North Shore Tortola / Beaches & Island Culture
Brewer's Bay: This lush, tropical bay has a small campground and fabulous snorkeling.
Cane Garden Bay: Made famous by a Jimmy Buffet song, this long curving beach is lined with beach bars and reggae music. The small, historic, Callwood Distillery is still producing rum in the same way as 300 years ago.
Carrot Bay: This village has the most rainfall on Tortola. All of the locals flourish in their fruits and vegetables. Carrot Bay is also the home of the North Shore Shell Museum.
Apple Bay: the "surfing beach", is home also to the "surfer's bar", and the World famous Full Moon Parties at the "Bomba Shack".
Long Bay: This lovely mile long stretch of white sand beach takes your breath away!
Smuggler's Cove: This is one of our favorites! The unpaved road is almost impassable, so seclusion is part of the romance. Snorkeling on the points is wonderful.
This is a 2/3 day trip (6 hours) that starts with a boat ride past Sandy Cay in route to beautiful Brewer's Bay, Tortola, where we start the snorkeling. This is a fun filled day of beautiful beaches, spectacular rock cliffs, and picturesque Caribbean villages. You can't get these views of Tortola anywhere else but from the water! We're on island time. . . meet local Tortolians, snorkel the hardest to reach reefs right from the boat, look for shells, catch a fish, enjoy the freedom of the Caribbean!
